New Providence

New Providence is a small borough located on the very most northwestern part of Union County in New Jersey. This county is situated on the northeastern portion of the state. New Providence is near the Passaic River and has a population of 12,171 according to the 2010 United States Census.

The borough of New Providence is situated on the western side of the Second Watchung Mountain and has an area of just over 3.5 square miles. Several small creeks come together in the center of town, originating from Salt Brook. Almost 10% of the borough is public park land.

Located to the east of New Providence is Woodland Park and Springfield. Berkeley Heights lies to the southwest while Summit and Chatham lie to the northeast. Newark is 11 miles in the same direction with Manhattan at 23 miles to the east.
